I am a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC)

Now offering Washington-state-approved Supervision for LMHCA, LMFTA, ACSW pre-licensed & art-therapy-curious clinicians

The ATR-BC is the highest-level art therapy competency. Registered Art therapists (ATR) with board certification carry distinction because they’ve passed the national certification examination, (ATBCE). This demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of art therapy theories, assessments, & skills used in practice. They have also provided hours of clinical art therapy and have received many hours of supervision before becoming ATRs. All board-certified art therapists (ATR-BC) are required to re-certify every five years through the completion of education credits.

My ATCB credential number is: 22-455

Adlerian Art Therapy

I’m part of a short lineage of Adlerian Art Therapists. The pioneer, Sadie Tee Dreikurs, created a protocol in her book Cows Can Be Purple. I was trained in these interventions at Adler University, Vancouver, BC Canada. My master’s research was on Online Adlerian Art Therapy Groups for individuals with Chronic Illness. I have presented on Adlerian Psychology at the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP) and hold a Certificate of Study and Adlerian Psychotherapy certificate from there as well.

Issues & Peoples

I have experience treating a variety of issues including estrangement/cutoff, OCD/OCPD, c-PTSD, anticipatory grief, perimenopause & aging-related infertility grief, religious harm/trauma, gender & sexual journeys, poly peeps, d/Disability, addiction/substance misuse, neurodivergence, & children of personality disordered parents.

I’ve worked with diverse people including: twins & multiples, graduate students, creatives, transgender kids & adults, and men. I work with individuals, couples, families, & communities/groups (chronic illness, art therapists, elementary to high school children). I’ve also done Museum Art Therapy.

Private Practice

I coach people on how to go into private practice as an art therapist. I have only worked in private and group practices; I know it’s possible to sustain. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I received a lot of supervision that was geared toward being successful and ethical in this arena. I’m excited to encourage people to create a life that is financially sustainable and enjoyable.

Art-making for non-Art Therapists

If you have questions about the use of art in therapy, i.e., how to use art in a therapeutic way while staying within the ethical bounds of your role and within the scope of your practice- reach out! I’ve presented on this topic at psychology conferences.

Art Interventions for Art Therapists

If you’re looking for neuroscience backed ideas about how to treat your clients, we can brainstorm about how to create accessible, culturally humble interventions using the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) to guide our work.

Adlerian Psychology

If you’re “Adler-curious”, want to know more about the theory, or want to expand your knowledge into your practice, I can give you resources such as organizations, journal articles, and resources in these one-on-one case consultations.

Twins

The experience of being a multiples is hard for single-birth folks to understand. Sometimes lived experience can help put the struggles of your twin client(s) into perspective. I revel in talking about the unique issues twins face internally, culturally, and socially.
